Kelsey B. Green

DNP (c), MPH, BSN, RN, PHN

Kelsey Green is a registered nurse, academic, and matrescence researcher with over eight years of clinical experience in emergency medicine. Her work sits at the intersection of maternal health, health equity, and systemic change, driven by a belief that every woman deserves to be seen, supported, and understood in the transition to motherhood. Her focus sharpened at just 11 weeks postpartum, when a lecture on matrescence, the developmental process of becoming a mother, gave language to everything she was living. That moment crystallized a mission already years in the making: to transform how we care for mothers, particularly Black mothers and families navigating a system not built for them.Currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Population Health Leadership, Kelsey empowers women, families, and birth workers to understand and honor the journey of becoming a mother, while advocating for the culturally responsive care and systemic reform needed to make that journey safer and more equitable.Today, she works as a nurse consultant, teaches in the BSN program at her alma mater, the University of San Francisco, and helps lead a health studies pipeline program opening doors for minority high school students to explore careers in healthcare. She also serves as a speaker and facilitator regarding her work and the workshop she designed on matrescence for birth workers.
